The INHABIT project

Project title: ‘Local hydro-morphology, habitat and RBMPs: new measures to improve ecological quality in South European rivers and lakes’

Welcome to INHABIT

INHABIT is a Life+ co-funded European project for integrating information on local hydro-morphological and habitat features into practical measures to improve the reliability of implementation of WFD River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs) in South Europe.

INHABIT is a common project of CNR-IRSA, CNR-ISE, ARPA Piemonte and Regione Autonoma della Sardegna and will consider the enhancement of WFD measures proposed in river basin management plans in selected catchments of Piemonte and Sardegna, for both rivers and lakes, based on the study of habitat-biota relation and nitrogen removal and/or retention.

Dissemination, demonstration of WFD-compliant methods and knowledge transfer are highly relevant for the project and will be realized via reports, articles and workshops all along the life-time of the project.
